The Jane Goodall Institute (Singapore) or JGIS is looking for a full-time manager to help build strategic partnerships with donors and raise brand awareness of the organization in Singapore. Over the past decade, JGIS has been nurturing youth leaders through our global Roots & Shoots programme, contributing to conservation efforts for the local Raffles’ banded langurs & long-tailed macaques, and organising public events to help individuals make a difference for the environment, animals, and people. We are at a point when we want to scale our impact further to nurture more future ‘Jane Goodalls’ and want to get a passionate and independent manager to help us grow.

Primary responsibilities 

Ensure long-term sustainability of JGIS through fund-raising initiatives and other activities

  • Work with board members to develop partnership plan
  • Identify potential partners (donations, grants, in-kind & other support), jointly approach them with board members or other volunteers and follow up as needed to raise funds
  • Build and nurture strategic partnerships with donors and supporters
  • Coordinate development and volunteers’ delivery of online campaigns, events and other fund-raising activities

Build the JGIS brand in Singapore

  • Coordinate marketing for JGIS and key programmes through digital & offline channels
  • Coordinate planning team and volunteer community to organize events, marketing, branding & other initiatives

Secondary responsibilities

Support JGIS programmes

  • Work with committees and the board to develop annual plan & budget
  • Provide support to coordinate committees with the necessary resources they need

Coordinate JGIS administration

  • Consult with Board of Directors on key decisions
  • Keep Board of Directors updated with timely communications & monthly GM’s report
  • Handle inquiries and other related admin matters
  • Work with board to liaise with JGI Global and other offices

Work with Community Team to manage interns and volunteers

  • Help keep our community of volunteers & interns active and passionate

Support from the JGIS board

The GM will meet the president or a member of the executive committee from the board weekly to discuss issues, work plans, and progress. Other members from the board are also available for consultation at least once monthly. Additional consultations and assistance can also be requested from the board. There will be quarterly performance review discussions.

Key Requirements 

  • 5 – 8 years (or more) of working experience
  • Able to work independently and comfortable with telecommuting (remote working)
  • Alignment with Dr Jane Goodall’s & JGIS’ vision of helping people take informed and compassionate action to improve the environment for all living things
  • Resourceful – able to achieve maximum results with limited resources
  • Flexible to work in the evening or weekends with volunteers when needed (time off in lieu will be provided after discussion and agreement with board of directors)
  • Strong writing & presentation skills for target audiences ranging from students to CEOs
  • Marketing and branding skillsets to build the JGIS brand

Experience in conservation, environmental, social or related organizations is a plus, the position reports to the Board of the Directors of the Jane Goodall Institute (Singapore).
