Primates Opportunities

The Primates Team oversees our tri-monthly monkey walks, monkey guards programme, and Raffles’ banded langur citizen science surveys.

Available Positions

Long-Tailed Macaque Working Group Volunteer Manager
Coordination of volunteer events for the LTMWG
Send Volunteer Reminder Emails on a weekly basis
Attend planning meetings once a month to update the team on the month’s Monkey Guards Training Session and plan for the following month’s
Guide new volunteers on how to conduct residential surveys when necessary

Commitment:
1h per week (usually on Wednesdays) for sending volunteer reminder emails
Co-facilitate monthly MG training session at Dairy Farm Estate (2.5h, Saturday)
Attend planning meeting once a month (the Sunday right after the MG training) to update on that month’s MG training session, and plan for the following month’s (2h, Sunday)
Guide new volunteers on how to conduct residential surveys when necessary (2h, various dates)

Residential Surveyors
Be a people surveyor! Through carrying out residential surveys with our interns, you will get to:
Listen to people’s encounters with macaques
Advise them on appropriate behaviour towards macaques
Observe reported ‘hotspots’ for macaque activity

Raffles’ Banded Langur Citizen Science Surveyors
Carry out citizen science surveys
Collect data
Contribute to Conservation

Commitment: Half-yearly basis

The Raffles’ banded langur is a critically endangered species in Singapore and field surveys have been conducted over the past year to estimate population size and distribution. Join our citizen scientists in conserving the Raffles’ banded langurs in Singapore if you want to participate as a volunteer in the survey

  • Looking for individuals with driven attitude
